Title: In & Around Tribeca: What to Do With Kids Under 10 This November
November in Tribeca has a different rhythm. Halloween decorations start to come down, the afternoons get shorter, and before you know it, holiday lights start appearing around downtown.
There's still plenty to do with the kids, from theater performances right here in the neighborhood to hands-on museum activities, art installations, and the first holiday celebrations of the season.
We've pulled together a few things worth putting on the calendar between now and early December, keeping most of them close to home. Here's what caught our attention:
November 7–9: Canstruction at Brookfield Place
10 AM–7 PM | Battery Park City
If you haven't made it over to Brookfield Place yet, there's still time to see Canstruction.
Architects, engineers, and designers have transformed thousands of unopened food cans into elaborate sculptures, all of which will eventually be donated to City Harvest.
Kids can pick up an activity sheet, vote for their favorite creation, and see what happens when a group of very creative adults takes building with cans seriously.
There's also an educational tour on November 7 at 11 AM, although advance registration is required. The exhibition closes at 6 PM on November 9.
November 7 & 8: Fairy Tales at Galli Theater
2 PM | 74 Warren Street, Tribeca
Sometimes the best weekend activity is right around the corner.
Galli Theater is presenting Hansel & Gretel on Saturday, November 7, followed by Little Red Riding Hood on Sunday, November 8.
The theater specializes in interactive fairy tales, so younger audience members have opportunities to participate rather than simply sit and watch.
Each performance runs about an hour, making this a manageable afternoon outing for little ones. Tickets are $20 for children and $25 for adults.
The theater has additional fairy tales scheduled throughout November, including Snow White, The Three Little Pigs, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty.

November 7–29: Lenape Games at the Seaport Museum
Most Saturdays & Sundays, 11 AM–4:30 PM | South Street Seaport
In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, the South Street Seaport Museum is offering hands-on activities introducing families to traditional Lenape games and the history of Lenapehoking, the land on which New York City now stands.
Children can try Selahtinalìtin, a game similar to Pick Up Sticks, and Mamantuhwin, a dice-and-bowl game inspired by the whirligig beetle.
The activities are included with museum admission, and you can combine your visit with a look at the historic ships and exhibitions.
The museum is offering the program on most weekends through November 29, so check the specific date before heading over.

November 10: Diwali Celebration at the Seaport Museum
4–6 PM | 213 Water Street, South Street Seaport
The Seaport Museum is hosting a free afternoon celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, with activities designed for the whole family.
Kids can decorate diya-inspired candles, create colorful rangoli designs, and join a puppet storytime about the holiday's traditions.
There's also an interactive dance workshop at 5 PM, along with access to the museum's Maritime City exhibition and the historic Bowne & Co. printing shop.
We like this one for its mix of crafts, storytelling, and the opportunity to introduce children to a celebration they may not have experienced before.
Registration is encouraged, although walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows.

November 13–December 2: Santa's Winter Wonderland at the Seaport
South Street Seaport
If your family is ready to get into the holiday spirit a little early, Santa's Winter Wonderland returns to Watermark at Pier 15 beginning November 13.
The seasonal experience transforms the waterfront restaurant into a festive holiday setting, with decorations, seasonal food, and family-friendly activities.
It's a fun option for a holiday outing without having to venture far from downtown, particularly if the kids are already asking when they'll get to see Santa.
The experience continues beyond our November calendar, so there's time to plan a visit.

November 21 & 22: The Nutcracker at Brookfield Place
November 21 at 1 PM & 7 PM; November 22 at 1 PM | Battery Park City
One of downtown's holiday traditions returns to the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place.
New York Theatre Ballet is performing Keith Michael's The Nutcracker, a family-friendly production featuring the familiar music of Tchaikovsky in the beautiful Winter Garden setting.
The daytime performances are especially appealing for younger children, and the location makes it an easy outing from Tribeca.
Advance tickets are currently sold out, but Brookfield Place says walk-ins may be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis if space is available. If you're hoping to attend, review the check-in instructions and arrive early.

November 21 & 22: More Fairy Tales on Warren Street
2 PM | Tribeca
If you missed Galli Theater earlier in the month, there are two more chances to catch a performance.
Rapunzel takes the stage on Saturday, November 21, followed by Sleeping Beauty on Sunday, November 22.
Both are hourlong interactive productions, and the theater's small scale makes them particularly approachable for younger audiences.
It's also nice to have a family theater option that doesn't require a subway ride or a full afternoon commitment.
December 1: Holiday Tree Lighting at the Seaport
Time to be announced | Fulton & Front Streets, South Street Seaport
The Seaport's annual holiday tree lighting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, and it's a lovely way to welcome December.
The neighborhood will gather around the tree at Fulton and Front Streets for holiday performances, warm drinks, and the official lighting.
There's something special about the Seaport during the holidays, particularly with the cobblestone streets and historic buildings as the backdrop.
The celebration is free, and organizers will be announcing additional details closer to the date.
If you're looking for an early December tradition to start with the kids, this is a good one to mark on the calendar.
